“Only dinner and then you call me an Uber, okay?” she reaffirmed our arrangement as I sat down at the oversized dining table in a room that looked like it was straight out of a Victorian fairytale. Chandeliers and heavy drapes, everything testified to money, old money. The place stank of it. Sometimes I felt so suffocated by it all, by this house I’d grown up in.

“Whatever you want, of course. Just dinner,” I replied. We both knew it was a lie. “More wine?”

She nodded, staring at me intently over her glasses which had slid down her nose. She didn’t smile, no, she just looked at me with something that resembled amusement.

I couldn’t stay away from her, the waitress who wasn’t a waitress – Danica, what a lovely name.

I had tried to busy myself with work but every day I didn’t call her was torture. There was such a fire in her, I was drawn like a moth to a flame. I don’t know why. It had been so long since I’d felt anything – let alone a passion burning so bright. My mind was a mess. I couldn’t concentrate on anything. Her burning eyes were all I thought about.

I didn’t think she’d agree to have dinner with me when I’d simply pitched up at the restaurant like that. But I was so glad she did. Even if I had no idea what my plan was…

“What happened at the restaurant? The night of the party…” she asked after I poured the wine.

I didn’t answer her question. “You remind me of my fifth-grade teacher, Miss Donovan.” She did. I finally remembered who it was I saw when I looked into those spectacled eyes.

“You’re changing the topic,” she called me out.

“You’d make a hot teacher actually,” I persisted.

“Careful, you don’t want me pulling you over my knee and giving you a spanking,” she winked teasingly, accepting that she wouldn’t get more out of me about the shooting. Not tonight, at least.

“I would love that,” I replied earnestly, despite never having enjoyed a single spanking in my life. Yet, at this moment, I desired nothing more than to have her pull my pants down and beat my ass with her naked hand. I felt my cock jump in excitement at the mere thought. I held my breath.

“Don’t tempt me,” she grinned, meeting my gaze daringly as she took another sip of wine. Not once did she flinch or look away. What an incredible woman.

“In fact, you can beat me around as much as you like,” I offered cautiously. What am I saying? Yet I only spoke truths. Me, Dante Fera – one of the most feared men in the city – I wanted this little spicy teacher to have her way with me, teach me a lesson, do to my body whatever she wanted.

“I have to go,” Danica said suddenly, pushing her plate away, untouched. We hadn’t even started the dinner that neither of us had ever planned to eat.

“You can’t leave,” I said softly.
